I am not ready to be a grandmother yet; my kids are still in college. Some of my friends are already grandparents, so I do think about it. Being a grandma conjures up all sorts of feelings about getting older. I know I am not alone when I say that as accepting as I may be about getting older, I am still very focused on not looking old and being thought of as youthful…you know 60 is the new 40 kind of thing. To no surprise grandboomers are rejecting traditional grandparent names and are choosing “alternatives” that are quite different from the usual stock. So what will it be…Nana, Grandma, Bubbe, Granny ...definitely not Granny. That makes me think of housecoats and false teeth in a glass! Finding just the right grandparent name has become quite the thing. Gwyneth Paltrow’s mom chose the name Woof, I wonder how that’s going. Glamma is the latest to be added to the list. She's active, has interests and always has time to visit with the grandkids… on the way to Zumba class. I like that one.
